A compendium of craft masquerading as art, art masquerading as craft, and craft extending its middle finger.

Breaking with tradition

In a weird bit of fluxus synergy, on Sunday, artist Nam June Paik shuffled off this (electromagnetic) mortal coil, and some dude with a loose shoelace tripped, fell down a flight of stairs, and shattered three priceless ming vases. The Fitzwilliam Museum has vowed to restore the vases, but that's soooooo passe. Yoko Ono beat them to the punch decades ago. I remember hearing stories when I was taking pottery classes about Ken Ferguson, a professor at the Kansas City Art Institute who came to critiques armed with a hammer. I digress. Rest in Peace, Nam June Paik.
