A compendium of craft masquerading as art, art masquerading as craft, and craft extending its middle finger.

...Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?

Yesterday's New York Times contained an article about a project by artist Elizabeth Demaray, who practices random acts of "inappropriate care-giving activities". These activities generally consist of upholstering and knitting cozies for incongruous, and often forgotten objects. In 2001, she created an upholstered cozy for a 10-ton Nike Hercules missile in Sausalito, California. The cozy will soon be displayed at the Roebling Hall Gallery in New York, in a show called "Fear Gear". Unfortunately, the entire length of the gallery is four feet shorter than the length of the cozy. Ms. Demaray is currently looking for a place to exhibit the cozy in its full...um.."erect" state.
